Created in 1960 by perfumer Guy Robert at the request of Hélène Rochas — the independent, style-setting widow who took over the house after her husband's death — Madame Rochas was built to reflect a woman entirely in charge of her own image. Aldehydes, bergamot, lemon and neroli open with a sparkling, luminous freshness, before a sweeping bouquet of jasmine, rose, tuberose, lily of the valley and violet fills the heart. Sandalwood, vetiver, musk, cedar and oakmoss settle into a warm, elegant base. More than sixty years on, it remains a benchmark of classic French aldehydic perfumery.
